Mission Impact Celebration

Goal #2 from Epworth's Strategic Plan:
We will expand our service and missions not only to those in our community, but to those throughout the world by engaging in life-changing experiences with those in need of material resources, assistance with daily living, education, health care, and spiritual growth. We will bring people into the kingdom by exposing them to God.  We will strive to meet spiritual needs that are not currently being met by experimenting with approaches that are unique to Epworth and our congregation.

2017 Missions

This year you will see an exciting new approach to our Mission Impact Celebration! Instead of putting everything into one big weekend, we are spreading it out over 3 Sundays during the year. Our first Mission Sunday will be April 30. Two of our current ministry partners, Project Transformation and Room in the Inn, will have representatives here. They will share the powerful ways God is working and using us to make Christ known to the people served by these organizations. You will be able to hear their stories in both worship services, learn more details about their ministries during the Sunday school hour, and have the opportunity to ask them questions during the fabulous lunch following the second service. The children will have a special collection of books and supplies for Project Transformation.

As in previous MICs, you can make commitments to pray for these missionaries, support them financially through your Faith Promise pledge, and make a life commitment to become more personally involved in God's mission. On Friday, April 28, from 6-6:30 PM, there will be an opportunity to participate in Prayers of Preparation in the historic sanctuary.

During the lunch in Vaden Hall you will have an opportunity to ask questions of our guest missionaries, as well as get acquainted with Epworth members you may not know well. Seating will be according to your birth month. We need 12 volunteers to host each month by decorating the table and making a dessert. Contact Kathy Heard (615-804-5369) if you would like to host a birthday month table.

2014 Mission Impact Celebration Update:

What a blessed weekend we had! Our guest missionaries felt the love of Christ from all of you and felt renewed when they left us. It would be impossible to adequately thank all the volunteers who helped make our Mission Impact Celebration a success. Thank you for letting your light shine! Please continue to pray for our guest missionaries, and for the Outreach Team as we consider ministry partnerships and how to use what you have pledged to God through your Faith Promise. If you would like to be involved in the Outreach Team, please join us at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 at the new site. If you have questions, please call Kathy Heard.

2012 Global Impact Celebration Update (after the event)
If you read the Upper Room on Sunday, April 22, 2012, it was entitled "Increase the Harvest. The Bible verse quoted was John 15:8, "Jesus said, "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit. If you attended the Global Impact Celebration last weekend, this devotional should hold special significance for you. The Holy Spirit brought in the harvest that bore much fruit! Praise the Lord. We received a Faith Promise offering of $105,099. God gives us immeasurably more than we can imagine when we are faithful to Him and trust Him to do His will through us. What a blessing. We hope all who attended the GIC last weekend experienced a closer walk with God and felt the power of the Holy Spirit. We wish you could have all attended the debriefing with the missionaries on Sunday evening. Your hearts would have been warmed to hear them talk about how much the GIC weekend meant to them and how God used it to refresh and nurture them spiritually. All of the missionaries said they didn't realize how empty they were spiritually until they got here. God used the experience to bless them. The GIC is a great gift to those that serve the Lord. A special thanks to all for your faithfulness to God to be "fishers of men! Thank you for your prayers, presence, participation and gifts. We know God is pleased with the great things Epworth has done and will continue to do in His name to serve others and spread the gospel in the unreached areas of the world!

2011 Global Impact Celebration

After the Celebration news¦

The Global Outreach Team would like to thank you for your participation in last weekend's Global Impact Celebration. We hope you were filled up and are overflowing with the love of Jesus! Throughout the weekend, God blessed us with so many wonderful examples of ordinary people living extraordinary lives because of their faith and obedience to His call. The diversity of the mission organizations represented provided some unique and different opportunities to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We hope you caught a glimpse of some new and fresh ways you can get involved.

The Global Outreach Team will be putting together our 2011/2012 budget and determining our mission partners in the coming weeks. If there was an organization/missionary that you felt a strong connection to and would like us to pursue developing a relationship with, please contact a member of the Global Outreach Team and let them know. We want to provide opportunities for our congregation to connect and be in relationship with others. We want to develop strong partnerships in areas where members feel led to serve.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and giving. Our faith promise offering of $66,450 is evidence that members are seeking God's guidance related to their missional giving. It is so exciting to see the spiritual growth that is occurring as we learn to step out in faith and trust God.

As Keith Wheeler, Max Wilkins, and Alan Weatherly all reminded us, we are all called to be on mission with God. I think Max Wilkins said it best when he said, "You are either, passionately going, passionately sending, or passionately disobedient. We need to pick up our cross and follow Jesus!

Please pray for Keith Wheeler's safety as he carries his cross in Libya. Keith left the US on April 4th to travel to Libya and carry his cross through that country so that others might have an opportunity to know Jesus. Now that's putting shoes on the feet of Jesus!

If you are looking for a deeper, closer relationship to Jesus, Alan Weatherly provided us with five outcomes that one can expect when they make missions a priority in their life. 1) God will go before you and direct your path; you will not walk alone. 2) Your relationship with God will be deepened because you will be in partnership with Him. 3) You will gladly use your resources to support missions when you find your passion 4) Your faith will blow up like a balloon, and 5) Your intimacy with Christ and people will grow. You will become less judgmental.

If you haven't gotten involved in missions before, we hope you will consider Alan's advice. We have lots of ways for you to engage. Please contact one of our Acts 1:8 team chairs and give it a try. You will not be disappointed. We can promise you a life changing experience! That's an opportunity that should be hard for anyone to resist.

In His service,
The Epworth UMC Global Outreach Team
