The church council oversees the management and programming of the local church while also planning and carrying out programs that fulfill the congregation’s nurturing, outreach, and witnessing ministries. To be effective in this process, the council also leads the visioning and strategic planning process in the church. Other responsibilities include approval of the church budget and working to ensure that the financial needs of the church are being met. Our church council at Epworth features broad congregational representation, reflecting the many spiritual gifts that are evident among our membership. Committee chairs from all work areas serve on the council, along with a number of at-large members that demonstrate strong lay leadership, for which Epworth is noted.

The Epworth church council currently meets at 6:30 p.m. the third Sunday of each month at our historic site. Members and church visitors are encouraged to attend these meetings and become an active part of the mission of our church:

“…to continually make known the love of Christ to all, as we each, through the offering of our varied gifts, find ways to become servants who work to transform conditions which cause suffering and who minister to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of others so that the love of Christ will be revealed.”
