Weekly Devotional Week 12, 2006 - Reflecting Christ
Scripture:
"As a face
is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the person."
- Proverbs 27:19 NLT
Application:
As you move through each day, how does the reflection of your heart present you to others? Whether you are in class, in the hallway, in the mall, or on the Internet, the projection of yourself that you provide others can form their opinion about you instantly. We all do it; we all judge each other by our first encounter. If you are polite, respectful, and caring to another person, their perspective of you is pleasant. If you are impolite, disrespectful and uncaring, you know what they are going to think of you also. This is the same in all of the different areas that you interact. How you talk, instant message, set up your webpage, etc tells others who you are. So if you are working on your relationship with Jesus Christ or you are already a Christian, how does your reflection let others know that you are a follower of Jesus Christ? Becoming a Christian doesn't mean that you have to be perfect at all times and in all ways. However it does mean that we strive to be a reflection of Christ to others in all ways and at all times.
Quote:
Your heart represents the source of all your motivations- what you love to do and what you care about most.
Prayer:
Dear God, Instill in me that desire to continue to grow in You and Your love. Your love is amazing; your grace is all I need, help me reflect that love and grace to others. Amen
