Weekly Devotional, Week 15, 2006 - Too Blessed to be Stressed

Scripture:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:34

Application: (Written by Courtney Campbell)

Stress affects us all. When I think of stress, I think of the negative affects it has on my life. It makes me tense, anxious, and frustrated. Did you know that stress can also make us physically sick? It can cause upset stomach, acid reflex, shortness of breath, and it can also weaken our immune system. Personally, I have a hard time dealing with stress. I exercise, sleep, and even write it down sometimes, but I have realized that I have never prayed about it. I realized this, a couple of weeks ago when in Sunday school we studied stress. This week, I had a large English project that I had to do. Instead of getting anxious and frustrated, I sent up to God. I felt a sense of relief that I had not experienced before. I realized that it was going to be okay, and it wouldn’t be the end of the world if I didn’t get an A. God can only answer our prayers if we pray.

Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for all that you have given me, but sometimes I am overwhelmed by it all and the responsibilities I have because of those things.  Please allow me to rest in your love and know that tomorrow will be exactly as you have planned for me.  Amen
