This week's devotional was written by Amanda Southall, of

Scripture: The present or the future -- all are
yours.
1 Corinthians 3:22b
(NIV)
Application: When I think about myself in the future,
I imagine that I will be well dressed, in control, and completely content with
my life. I imagine myself with a great job, a group of friends, a family, and a
close relationship with God. When I imagine the future, everything is positive;
and the things I don’t like about myself have been magically transformed.
Imagination is great, but it doesn’t accomplish much. Hard
work is the only way to meet my goals for the future. If I want a great career,
I need to develop a responsible work ethic and make good grades. If my dreams
are more specific (for instance, I have always wanted to teach English as a
second language), I should start learning and preparing now for that particular
job. And if having a strong relationship with Christ in the future is important
to me, I need to build a firm foundation now through prayer, daily devotions,
and being involved with my church and my youth group.
One of the best things about the future is its uncertainty.
No one can control the future; but if I want to accomplish my goals, then I
should start working toward them now.
Quote: "A year from now you may wish you had
started today."
Karen Lamb
Prayer: O God, let me see my future through your eyes and work now to make those dreams come true. Amen.
