How is your relationship? Week 5,2006

Scripture:

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God--all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.

Romans 5:11

Application:

All of us have some type of relationship with God. Even those who deny there is a God have a relationship based on denial.  Our relationship was formed when God created us, He created us in His image so that He might have a relationship with us.  God has given us many things during His relationship with us.  What have we given Him?  Think about the person whom you call your "best friend."  How did you both work to develop that relationship?  What things did each of you offer the other in the process?  God has given each of us special gifts that we can use to relate to others and to Him.  It is up to us to accept them and use them.  There is a quote that is something like -"For whom much is given, much is expected."  God loves us so much and wants a relationship with us so much that He gave us Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ came to this world knowing that He was our connection to His Father, God.  Jesus knew that He would have pay the ultimate price in order for us to have the relationship with God that both of Them want us to have.  God gave us His Word, in the form of the Bible to help us understand how to further develop this relationship with Him.  Just like when you were developing your relationship with your "best friend", the development of your relationship with God takes effort.  Communicate daily with God just as you do your friend. Ask God for help with your problems just as you ask your friend.  God wants to be your "best friend," and He has given much to you in order to build this relationship.

Quote:

Let’s go hand in hand, not one before another.

- William Shakespeare 1564-1616

Prayer:  Take some time today and each day this week to fill God in on what is happening in your life.  Ask Him to help you with your concerns.  BE SURE TO LISTEN For God's response.
